Inside Factory #17 War Work

Here in factory#17 during WWII Buick workers and military personnel were both taught how to build and tear-down the Pratt and Whitney engine. This engine was used for the B-24 medium bomber and the B-17 heavy bomber, the M-18 Hellcat tank used a similar radial engine. All parts for this engine were made under licensed contract at Buick but assembled at the Buick plant especially built for this work in Chicago. follow the link to see the engine used in the Hellcat tank
