Update: Convicted embezzler Richard A. Short is now housed in the Genesee county jail in Flint and the tax credit has been revoked. This site was actually part of Buick City south of Leith st. The location was new car shipping located on the site of the old Fairview school constructed for the family’s living in Buick Heights. The main building located there at the current time was built after Buick City was razed. The covered transport loading area is original to Buick City. This neighborhood was razed in the 70’s making room for industrial expansion.
Starting in 1972, the city invested federal and local funds in buying property and moving residents and other businesses from the St. John area.
In all, 1,470 separate parcels were bought or condemned for the entire St. John Park, according to Flint Journal files.
